Throwing a 90's dance party - help me create a playlist?

Asked by YoKoolAid (2424points) February 2nd, 2012

For years a friend of mine has been talking about having a 90’s dance party with all the pop/cheesy 90’s dance hits. So for her birthday I’m thinking of throwing one for her, which songs would you recommend?

I’m thinking of songs along these lines:

robin s. – show me love
la bouche – be my lover
amber – this is your night
sarina paris – look at us now
snap – rythm is a dancer
dht – listen to your heart
20 fingers – short dick man
roula – lick it

help appreciated!

Those are all good choices. Here are more:

Robin S.—Giving You All That I Got
La Bouche—Sweet Dreams
Ace of Base—Don’t Turn Around
SoulDecision—Faded
Jody Watley—Looking for a New Love

This Beat Is Technotronic – Technotronic

Pump Up The Jam – Technotronic (is imo better, but 1989)

Move Your Feet – Junior Senior

Freestyler – Bomfunk MC’s

What Is Love?- Haddaway.

Beautiful-Ass Life- Ace of Base.

Even though it was released in 2002, I think Heaven by DJ Sammy & Yanou would fit in.

Although this yet more uptempo 2/4 stuff, I’m adding Better Off Alone by Alice Deejay, because watching Judith Pronk dance is such a visual treat. :-)

@Brian1946, Thank you! I absolutely loathed the Ace of Base songs that I’ve heard, but I actually liked this, and might eventually get it off iTunes. I also liked Alice Deejay, although I think listening for long could eventually drive me numb.

@MilkyWay Beautiful song :)
Thanks for sharing that because I feel the same way. Beauty like that gets me so emotionally involved when I dance to it. :-)

OMG, I did not listen to any of this stuff in the 90’s.
What happened to me? Abducted by aliens, or hippies??

Although this is more rock than dance, at least Blue Monday by Orgy sounds a little different than my previous selections.

Informer by Snow. Classic 90’s. Let me know if you can figure out what he’s saying.
