What is it called when the doors of your car open upwards instead of sideways? About how much is it to get that done?

Gull-wing door

I don’t know about the price. I’m sure it varies drastically between the make of the car and quality of the job.

If they swivel upwards like a clock hand most people call that Lamborghini doors because they are famous for it.

Lamborghini doors are known as “scissor doors”.

i always thought they were called “suicide doors,” lol.

edit: wait, that’s those doors that just open backwards, not upwards, i think.

Right, suicides open backward.

I thought they were called butterfly doors because they open like a butterfly. I think you could probably get them done at a shop that does alot of custom car work. Kinda like the guys that were on “Pimp my Ride” on mtv. Usually there are custom shops like that near big cities and stuff. Try the phonebook!

Two reasons you shouldn’t do that:

You will get laughed at. Constantly.

If you ever flip your car, you cannot get out. So, if it should catch fire, you’ll burn alive.

There are pictures somewhere online of someone who flipped his exotic and burned because he couldn’t get out.

Oh, and it costs a couple grand to do it. Out of curiosity, what kind of car do you drive?

See this before you get the new doors.

one reason the do these doors if you drive a really low sitting car the doors will go up instead of sideways into a curb.

They also have kits that open sideways and upwards dually, its all about the door hinge so as cameraobscura said this will prevent from getting stuck in your car.

I recommend doing some research I’ve seen some bad kits that don’t last or sit well and cause the hinge to go through your fender.
