Can anyone tell me why this is happening with Fluther?

Asked by Dutchess_III (46811points) March 15th, 2012

When I try to go to Fluther the regular way…typing Fluther.com in the search bar…I get a big, fat blue walrus telling me that Fluther is over capacity, try again later.

However, just last week I wanted to save one of my questions that had some very helpful answers, and I got the idea to see if I could just pull it down to my tool bar. It worked. When I click on that, I get right in. This has been going on since Sunday night.

Is it Fluther or me?

I think it’s Fluther. I’ve been having trouble loading it all week… maybe even longer than that :/

I’m having the same issues.

OK, folks time to use the Contact button and describe the problems to the powers that be.

I’ve been getting the over capacity screen a lot lately too; clearing my cache usually fixes it but certainly there’s still something going on on their end considering that it has happened to so many jellies.

There is already a long discussion of this in Meta. It is a problem with the servers.

Here is the link to the other discussion.

Thanks, I missed that.

Well, one way around it seems to be dragging this question (or whatever question) directly onto your favorites bar. I get right in clicking on the other question installed there..

Thanks @marinelife. I missed that too. Thanks for answering all, even though it’s be asked before.

I could tell you exactly why it’s happening, but I would be tortured modded and Auggie would be forced to whip the shit out of [REDACTED]

Did you try to say ‘carrot cake’ @WillWorkForChocolate???

No, I tried to tell you about [REDACTED]

Yes, there is something wrong on our end. Even clearing the cache/restarting the browser isn’t doing the trick for some people. The guys are aware of it, and we’re working on getting it fixed. I’m so sorry about all the trouble it’s causing!

Dutchess_III's avatar

Well, for what it’s worth, might let them know I’m able to get in one way with no problem. It’s just when I type Fluther.com in the search bar that I have problems. Someone else said they can get right in if they click on a comment response from their email. And quit Redacting WWC, Auggie! She’s trying to tell me something important! She sounds like a strangled seagull and I can’t understand what she’s saying!

augustlan's avatar

Yeah, some people are having trouble if they hit the ‘home’ button, too. Whatever it is that’s wonky, it has to do with the home page.

WWFC loves to be [redacted].

I think Ben was trying to tell us that to fix it we need to stuff carrot cake around the capacitors???

I have been getting that Walrus quite a bit too recently.

@Leanne1986 Trying dragging this question down on to your most visited site….I did that with another question and I’ve had 0 trouble getting in when I go through that icon since then.

augustlan's avatar

So far, we’ve been unable to recreate the problem on any of our computers. It might help us pinpoint the issue if we could get the following info from those of you who are having trouble logging in or using the “Home” button:

What operating system do you use? (ie: Windows7, OSX, Windows Vista, etc.)
What browser do you use? (ie: Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.)
Who is your ISP? (ie: Cox Cable, Comcast, AOL, etc.)

Windows 7 Home Premium
Firefox
Cox Cable.

It seems fine now, @augustlan.

still down for me I had to type something totally different to find it

augustlan's avatar

@trailsillustrated Try clearing your cache. The site was down for a while yesterday (server hardware issue), so it might still be wonky until you do that.

Yeah! You guys scared me!!!!
