Raw Green Smoothie Recipe without Fruits or low GI fruit...Help? (Details)

Asked by DarlingRhadamanthus (11273points) March 18th, 2012

I am searching for Green Smoothie Raw Veggie Recipes that do not have fruits in them…or simply require an apple/carrot for sweetness or get their sweetness from a low G.I. fruit…but…here’s the catch…it has to be delicious! And not taste like grass or be bitter.

I have a recipe book for Green Smoothies and almost all of them take pineapple/mango and tropical fruits (high in sugar) and bananas, etc. I need some that will work with sweetener from low GI fruits.

Any ideas? Hope so.
Thanks so much!

The G.I. Diet page has a list of low-GI fruits. Perhaps you can throw some of them into your favorite smoothie?

The fruit is actually the only thing that is going to disguise that ‘grassy’ taste. Maybe you can add a couple of spoonfuls of coconut oil for added flavor, but without fruit, you can’t disguise the ‘yuck’ factor.
