Are any of you intending to participate in the XKCD geohashing?

Well – now that I’ve done my research and I know where I’m supposed to go I know I’ll certainly not be going.
It’s out in the hood! The Idaho hood that is :p There are guns, and, and…uh….guns!

Maybe you could explain it in layman’s terms. I was looking at a few sites but I still have no real clue, other than the fact that it has to do with algorithms, what it’s all about. Would you mind?
