Easiest ways to find someone using the web?

Back in my early 20’s (I’m almost 40), I dated a guy for three years. Almost married him. His name is awfully common and I can’t seem to find him on the web. Any suggestions?

I have tried Facebook, but, like I said, his name is common and there are too many to go through. I tried a few family members on FB and they didn’t show up.
