One four-leaf clover in 10,000? I wonder who made the count?

I read an article that stated, “for each 10,000 three-leaf clover, there is one with four leafs”. This started my brain to thinking, who was the person that conducted this count and how scientific was thier experiment? I can just see this person sitting in a field of clover and counting each one by hand.
Question: does one four-leaf clover truly exist within a field of 10,000? If so, is there documented proof?
What is your theory?
