If the new iPhone came out, what do I do?

Asked by crunchaweezy (1733points) May 27th, 2008

I haven’t been able to get a clear answer to this question. If I have my 8Gb iPhone from June of ‘07 and the new one comes out, can I get a discount of some sort? What do I do with my current one?

I doubt Apple would offer any discount. That’s how they make money. I guess you could sell the one you have now and use the money to buy a new one. I hear the new one might be unveiled this summer.

I’d pay full price if necessary, as I am a mac fanboy. Say it came with another sim card like the current iPhones, can I pop mine in from current iPhone to new one?

The SIM card swap should be no problem. As for your old iPhone, ebay/Craigslist it. By the way, there is an article in iphoneatlas.com that talks about memory not being erased when you perform a restore with iTunes that you may want to read up on (whereby users’ information-contacts, etc., actually remain on the iPhone after a restore). Interesting and kind of scary IMO.

What you do is you turn your old one into an Apple store and get store credit, and you put that store credit towards buying the newer 3G iPhone.

In the end we all get ripped off so it’s okay, we’re all in the same boat here.

@ Melonking

They may be the ones, but my question to that is. The “leaked” pictures always seem they’ve been taking by an elderly lady, using a camera for the first time.
