Steps to becoming a science teacher.

Asked by simone54 (7629points) May 22nd, 2012

I’m 30 and I want to change career from being a profession cook. I have already taken a few biology classes at a community college. I’m wondering what the typical course of action one would take become a science teacher.

Check with your advisor. This is precisely the sort of thing that they keep ‘em around for.

I guess, you need to get at least bachelor in education degree; masters would be advantageous. That would help you to enter into school.

I didn’t understand much about “few biology classes at a community college”. I also don’t know what a “community college” is. I am in India; that could be the reason.

Considering biology, if you can spend that much amount on tuition and other things, then you can try undergraduate or graduate degree? Here’s ranking of graduate schools in biological sciences.

I know there are some programs out there specifically for career changers to become teachers. The community college should have some info on that. Best of luck to you!
