You are stuck in a cabin for two years. What five movies would you take with you? Part two!

Asked by AshLeigh (16340points) May 31st, 2012

I asked this question last year, and that thread was a lot of fun.
A lot of new movies have come out since then, and I’m sure our choices have changed at least a little. :)
So, you are stuck in a cabin for two years. What five movies would you take with you?

Misery.
Grease. 1 and 2. Package deal. All of nothing.
Flipped.
Never Let Me Go.
And… RENT.

Annie Hall. And four other movies.

Very specific. ;)

I would be too busy out in the forest collecting wood and food for the winter months. I would much prefer to have a couple good books to 5 movies.

The books would be

Huckleberry Finn
Team Yankee
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Eye Deep in Hell
Blackhawk Down

ragingloli's avatar

Tentacles and Witches
Mahou Shoujou Ai
Makai Kishi Ingrid
Otome Dori
Glengarry Glenn Ross

Like @WestRiverrat, I prefer books if I’m going to be trapped that long, but movies are fun too. I’ll probably revise this list mentally later, but for now, here’s my five:

“Casablanca”
“Lonesome Dove”
“Raiders of the Lost Ark”
“The Lion In Winter”
“The Blues Brothers”

Citizen Kane
A Clockwork Orange
Ghost in the Shell
Enter the Dragon
Death to Smoochy

Band of Brothers
Groundhog Day
Castaway
Predator
Terminator 2

Dark Shadows

Sense and Sensibility

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Head (The Monkees’ movie)

The last one is a hard one, either Peter Pan or The Sound of Music

jca's avatar

Sideways
Little Miss Sunshine
Fargo
Marie Antoinette (for the clothes and soundtrack)

I’ll think of a 5th and post it later.

Can I have 1 hard drive instead? :P 2 years is a long time to be holed up in a cabin!

The Ring, because I like to live dangerously & pull funny faces when my photo’s taken.

elbanditoroso's avatar

Does it have electricity?

I’d bring a dozen books instead.

Mama_Cakes's avatar

Evil Dead
The Changling (not the one with Angelina Joile. The horror movie)
Friday the 13th
Texas Chainsaw M.
Exorcist

Ch-che-che Ah-ah-ah…

bookish1's avatar

Super Troopers
Hackers
The Life Aquatic
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Rear Window

Guys! I asked what movies you would bring. Stop bringing books. |:

mc97flash's avatar

A Walk to Remember
The Dark Knight
Inception
Avengers
The Adjustment Bureau

WestRiverrat's avatar

@AshLeigh it wouldn’t matter how many movies I brought. I couldn’t watch any even if I had them, my definition of a cabin does not include electricity.

DaphneT's avatar

I would take The 10th Kingdom, 6th Sense, True Lies, Water World, Star Trek

dabbler's avatar

Dead Man
The Cruise
Idiocracy
Some Monty Python…gotta think about that

WIll I have some company?
If I’m stuck alone with my wife or companion bird, I want a home movie with them in it.

Berserker's avatar

The Cabin in the Woods.
Evil Dead.
Antichrist.
Cabin Fever.
The Cottage.

Actually, not really. I just thought I’d add a theme this time around. XD

ohmyword's avatar

Annie Hall, Almost Famous, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Home Alone, & Breakfast at Tiffany’s… I should have thought this through more… haha

Michael_Huntington's avatar

@Symbeline Fuck yeah, Evil Dead!

I would choose:
Bad Taste
Evil Dead 2
Cannibal Holocaust
Hard Boiled
Ichi the Killer

AngryWhiteMale's avatar

@Symbeline, add “Misery” to your themed list ;-) If you are allowed to bring books, maybe Uncle Tom’s Cabin?

cookieman's avatar

Iron Man
Incredible Hulk
Thor
Captain America
The Avengers
What? I’m on a bit of a Marvel movie kick.

Non-Marvel Alternates
The Shawshank Redemption
Elizabethtown
The Empire Strikes Back
Raiders of the Lost Arc
Aliens II

wildpotato's avatar

Throne of Blood
Pulp Fiction
Burn After Reading
Waking Life
Akira

bookish1's avatar

@wildpotato: WAKING LIFE! I loved that when I was in high school. Gonna have to watch it again now and see if it’s held up :)

@dabbler: I thought of Monty Python, but IMHO the movies don’t hold a candle to the Flying Circus :-p

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

I would need to see my favorite actors, so:

Lord of the Rings (Viggo Mortensen)
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Daniel Craig)
Pirates of the Caribbean (Johnny Depp)

And then, I’d probably go with my permanent faves:

Princess Bride
Monty Python and the Holy Grail

DaphneT's avatar

New list: Restoration, The Mummy, Mrs. Winterbourne, Pride and Prejudice, Dark Shadows

Kardamom's avatar

^^ I could happily sit in a dark room and watch Dark Shadows every day for the next month. I’ve already seen it twice and I’m ready for more : )

Mr_Paradox's avatar

The Godfather (whole set, package deal, only bringing one movie is blasphamy)
Lord of the Rings (see above)
The Princess Bride (classic!!)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (3 shall the number be…. not 4, nor 5….. and 6 is most definately out of the question see whole movie for full quote )
The Dark Knight

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@Mr_Paradox Ahhh, you and I could easily share a cabin. Excellent movie choices!

Mr_Paradox's avatar

Of coarse they are! Exellent actualy doesnt even begin to describe the Godfather
