Meta Question

Why did my "1000 questions for you", steady for months, suddenly change to zero?

Asked by anartist (14808points) July 22nd, 2012

I thought Fluther had decided to cap lots of Qs and 1000 and leave it there. Why the zero and new countdown now?

I stole them. I only had 10 and I was jealous. [Other than that I don’t know why.]

You’re pretty lucky. It has never let me keep that many in the que. it usually starts dumping mine at around 30 or 40.

My guess is that you clicked on a link in the meta question right before this one. PhiNotPi was being clever when he posted a link (you can see it here) that clears all the Questions for You. I know, because like a fool, I clicked on it, too.

@Bellatrix welcome to ‘em. 1000 was sort of daunting anyway.
@augustlan why how clever! and I missed it completely . . .

Bellatrix's avatar

I don’t really like most of them so I might send them back… @PhiNotPi how do I return these questions to @anartist?

PhiNotPi's avatar

@augustlan I hope you don’t mind me messing with Fluther’s linking capabilities. I have accomplished so many things.

I have found a link that causes everybody in chat to leave the room (idle).
I have found a link that clears all Q’s for You.
I have found a link that causes you to log out.
I created links that award GAs.
I created a link that causes the clicker to follow me.
I can now view the Questions for You of any user (not that I care).

With great power comes great responsibility.

@PhiNotPi Can you link me up with the boy I love? Now that would be useful!

PhiNotPi's avatar

@janbb Sorry, but I can’t do that… yet.

@PhiNotPi just don’t find the link to the secret of the Robot Crush award.
Then you really would be a killjoy.

However if you can unravel the many layers of coverups and erasures obscuring the full depth and breadth of the question o CIA involvement on Fluther to all interested parties, then you might even get a special award just for you. [Auggie?]

maybe a Pandora award?

@PhiNotPi I feel all violated now…

@anartist I’m working on uncovering the CIA thread. It will be quite a challenge. I’ve already been able to give GA’s to some of the redacted answers, although the community feed does not appear to register it.

PhiNotPi's avatar

This might be the closest that we will ever be to seeing the CIA thread. It it @eambos’s screen shot resized so that all of the user avatars are exactly 1 pixel large (instead of 1.5 pixels).

anartist's avatar

@PhiNotPi GAs? but can you READ them?
Oh, c’mon, that’s just the length of the thread. zoom in.
That’s like looking at the landing strip from a jetliner.

PhiNotPi's avatar

@anartist, I can’t, that’s not even my screen shot, it is @eambos’s screenshot. I merely did some resizing to make the user avatars line up with the pixels. The original was unbelievably incredibly pixelated, so it is impossible to recover text from it.

anartist's avatar

@PhiNotPi Obviously, pixelation and wysiwyg is not the way to go.
keystrokes, keystrokes, keystrokes.
Unlock the keystroke lair/layer . . . . find everything in this secret [non-volcanic, maybe voltaic] lair . . .I’d tell you how but the CIA will [REDACTED]

PhiNotPi's avatar

@anartist I haven’t been able to look at the text. I’ve tried to look at the web page source code and haved searched the Internet for Fluther clones.

I’m also going to test something that will most likely not do anything, but may do something that I would like: Voltron.

PhiNotPi's avatar

YES!!!

I have found a list all of the participants in the CIA thread. The comments are not visible, but the usernames are. I will work on finding an even better archived copy.

I want the Pandora award!

Judi's avatar

The scarey thing is @PhiNoyPi,
I don’t think any of those users participate anymore. Have they been erased????

anartist's avatar

@PhiNotPi the source code has been written over many times, as have the [REDACTED] answers—even the [REDACTED by the CIA] was redacted when Fluther chose to use kinder, gentler words for deleting an answer . . .

The WAYBACK machine???? Then even the Library of Congress cares about it. Is there an earlier WAYBACK?????

anartist's avatar

@PhiNotPi although it changed so quickly [from what I’m told] that answers kept flooding in almost immediately followed by [REDACTED]s and then more answers and more [REDACTED]s, und so weiter, like it was a living thing that perhaps there is no one real “CIA thread”

but jolly good show, finding this on the WAYBACK machine
