Quick grammar question: not superlative but on its way?

They’re called “comparative adjectives”.

Aha, thank you very much, @thorninmud . I can finish my blog post in peace, and add this to my grammar snobbery and pretend I knew it all along. :)

“Twatty, twattier, twattiest? Meaning?

“Reddest” is called a “superlative adjective.”

When the comparative form of an adjective sounds awkward as in purpler, we say more purple. Sugarier; more sugary. big, bigger; not more big. Sometimes you hear little kids adding an er incorrectly and it’s cute. When you’re older, speaking incorrectly is NOT so cute. Unless you’re being funny.

So let me get this straight… you’re using a slang word that’s not generally accepted in standard language….and furthermore a noun (not an adjective) , and you’re wanting to add ‘er’ or ‘est’ suffixes to it.

Sorry, but this stopped being a ‘correct grammar’ question a long time ago.
