What can be said about the National Society of Collegiate Scholars?

I just received an email from my school inviting me to join NSCS. I went to the website and I understand the basis of it’s intent, which is to “recognize and elevate high achievers”, but what else is known of this organization? Is it something that I can count on or do good with? Ins and outs if available.
