What markers should I be using so that I can still see pencil drawn lines?

Asked by richardhenry (12692points) June 2nd, 2008

I’m looking for some good thick colour markers for doing UI mockups, something that dries quickly, that I can layer on more than once to get a darker colour, and I don’t want the pencil lines to get smudged. Any suggestions?

Google for ‘Shinhan Touch markers’ – quite similar to Tria Pantones but less pricey. I love ‘em.

No link cos I wasn’t sure which country you’re based in.

Yeah – obviously depends on the intensity of the chosen colour, but should do the trick.

Use either the same pen or shades of light grey to drop the colour by a shade.

Thanks, they seem perfect. I’ve always done my mockups in pen, but I would quite like to put in some effort and produce something I can actually show clients and not feel slightly embarrassed. :) Haha.

Heh, I know the feeling. Takes a little getting used to, but worthwhile.

A tip from my graffiti outlines would be that if I’m pleased with a biro / pencil sketch I’ll use the next sheet through (if I’ve pressed hard enough) and roughly re-sketch from the indentations- so that if I screw up I still have the original.

No worries! Enjoy!

I’m looking forward to these arriving now. Thanks Ben! (I’m assuming your name is Ben.)

Why yes, sherlock!

(I’m assuming from your deductive powers… etc)

It did take an amazing amount of deduction, to be fair. I’m so glad I went for that degree in ‘username dissection’, otherwise I would have never managed.
