Where did my bookmarks and the Firefox bar go?

Asked by marinelife (62485points) August 7th, 2012

All of a sudden my screen does not show my Firefox bar with my bookmarks. Where did it go and how do I get it back?

Go to “View” “Tool bars” and check “Boolmarks toolbar”.
Poof! It’s back.

View is missing too.

Perhaps you accidentally pressed the F11 key.
Try pressing it to see if that restores your Firefox bar.

Now it’s back, but it’s shoved in a little tab in the top left hand corner of the screen.

This is exactly the kind of thing that makes me long for a key that always answers the question “What did I just do?” A chance wrong keystroke combination can alter your view of things in maddeningly mysterious ways, without the least clue as to how to restore what you had before.

@marinelife Have you tried closing Firefox and reopening it? Or (my tried and true) clearing the cache, then doing that?

Yes like @Brian1946 mentioned F11 is the one that worked for me a few times.

Once or twice my hands accidentaly brushed up against the keys around “Z” and the window/tab I was on, disapppeared. Another time (I don’t know what happened that time) all the windows just closed on me.

If you restart your computer it usually goes back to default settings.

My husband came home and restored it. Thanks, everyone.
