Which sport in the USA is most affordable for league play?

My wording is all horrible. Pretty much what I’m asking is, which is the cheapest sport for ones kid to join?

I’m thinking basketball? Based purely on gear required. But I don’t know how much enrolling kids into a traveling tournament team costs. Know of any of the averages per sport? Thanks
