Possibly (NSFW) Why is my boyfriend sweating excessively during intimate relations?

My boyfriend seems to sweat quite a lot. Initially, I thought it was a one-off case of nerves. He told me that he sweats a lot, mostly from his face. I was okay with that(I like him and it wasn’t a huge issue)...until we started to have sex.
I literally felt as though I was under a rain cloud…except it was sweat. I know he was really self conscious and he kept apologising, but it’s a huge turn-off for me. The next time we had sex, it was even worse…his sweat was pouring down on top of my face. Tbh, it felt pretty gross. I like him and don’t want to hurt his feelings.
Does anyone have experience of this kind of thing? How best to handle it without bruising his ego? I could suggest different positions where I could avoid the downpour. Help :/

Seriously, he may want to see a Dr. if this is a recent development.
This isn’t a recent development. He says it’s been like this for ages. What I don’t understand is why he hasn’t been to a Dr. about it. I’ll ask him, but I’m finding it frustrating.
@wilma I’ve edited the question. The “very recent development” was regarding our relationship. Apologies.
He may have this condition which is made worse by nervousness/excitement.
Without being too forward, i’m guessing the prospect of sex with you is pretty exciting & so….....well, you get my drift :¬)
Reminds of that joke Louis C.K. made. I sweat constantly and am always clammy. My friend (for real my friend… oh) asked a doctor and there isn’t really anything that can be done. I suggest fans, lots of fans.
…Really? I love it when a guy’s forehead gets sweaty when we’re intimate. It makes me feel like he’s enjoying himself…. :/

Hmm…yeah I get that, but lying under a shower of sweat is utterly repulsive. It’s a huge turn-off! The sheets need to be changed asap as they’re soaked through. I guess it’s open windows, fans and a change of position for next time to see how it goes :/
Yuck. Tried to come up with an answer, but I’ve got nothing. Some guys sweat a lot making love, but a shower is gross. Although making it in the shower might be an idea.
Guess it is time to do it doggie fashion…..
