Does anyone use a different music program like iTunes to download music?

Asked by Dsg (1421points) August 16th, 2012

I want to be able to continuously download music onto my iPod. I can’t do that with iTunes because it constantly asks me if I want to
“erase and synch.” I don’t want to do this, because then I have to start all over from the beginning.

I load my iPod in batches. I’ll accumulate many tracks (played via Grooveshark and recorded via Applian, at least until I know I’ve got something I’m going to like to hear multiple times, at which time I’ll look for and buy CDs to rip) into a “Music To Load” directory on the computer, and then every month or so simply load the new tracks into the iPod.

I’ve never even visited the iTunes store. And I never ever let my iPod synch automatically.

Why don’t you put your iPod on manual sync so you can choose what goes on there at each sync.

I’d also look into WinAmp for iPod management. Its a lot easier IMO and allows for you to transfer songs from the iPod to the computer if you wish, unlike iTunes.

I realize I didnt answer the question in regards to downloading but I kinda just pirate everything.

First off, manual syncing is your friend.

Over the years, I have used many ways to download music, some of which I plead the fifth on. As for syncing, I found that iPods are generally more of a hassle to sync because they don’t like anybody using anything non-Apple. WinAmp is one of my favorites though.
