What can I do to make this Ice-cream cake more interesting?

Asked by imgr8 (434points) August 30th, 2012

I am making an Ice Cream cake for my boyfriend. Im cheating by buying one of those ready-made chocolate crusts and then just putting the ice cream into it and re-freezing. He wants it to be vanilla ice cream so I was thinking I should decorate it with something to make it a little less boring.. Any ideas?

Are you doing this for him or you? Sprinkle on sprinkles, M & M’s, Reese’s mini-peanut butter cups, Star Wars figures or other little toys that might make him laugh. Fresh flowers wrapped in foil and one large candle to avoid the spittle factor.

Making a chocolate cookie crust is really easy.

VANILLA WAFER OR CHOCOLATE COOKIE
CRUST

1¼ c. crushed wafer crumbs
⅓ c. melted butter

Crush cookies in plastic bag with rolling pin. Mix all ingredients and press into pie plate. Chill 45 minutes or bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes.

Get a tube of chocolate frosting and make up and down and back and forth uneven stripes of chocolate on the top and down the sides of the cake. Easy to do if you don’t try to make the stripes perfect.

If the shape of the crust works, put the ice cream in two round same sized bowls and freeze it. Tip the ice cream out, flat side down. Breast Cake.

Cheating on the chocolate spoils the fun, with a sheet of flexible plastic, the back of a spoon, and plenty of space in the freezer there’s no limits – as long as your open to some chocolate soldering and accepting that it’s a one step forward two steps back process

Or whip up some merengue and make a baked alaska!

What about making it colorful with sliced strawberries, banana’s and pineapple. Then put some whipped cream around the edge putting cherries on top of the whipped cream so every slice gets a cherry. Have some hot fudge on the side to pour over the top to turn each slice into an instant banana split.

Hide a fake plastic bug in it. :)

@Adirondackwannabe I love this idea, but wouldn’t you need one smaller sized cake pan to make the top of the booby? But with a little flesh tinted frosting, you could add a nipple, etc…..

@laurenkem A cherry on each would make a nice nipple. Plus whatever else you wanted.:)
