Faxing via the Internet?

Asked by Judi (40025points) September 26th, 2012 from iPhone

I don’t have long distance on my landline because I normally only use it for the security system.
Do you have experience with an Internet fax service that won’t start spamming the receiver? I’m afraid to just google it because I could. E setting my poor mother in law up for a mess if they sell her number. I don’t mind paying a buck or two to be sure it’s spam free.

Is there a “Shipping Store” or something like that close?

I’ve sent faxes by them in the past. You use their phone line and fax machine. (My fax machine was busted and I didn’t want to buy another that day.)

Yes but it’s nothing worth running out for. I just want to send (Foeward) my mil an email but she doesn’t have email. I was hoping I could find a way to just fax it to her over the Internet without having a monthly subscription. I could run into my office too but I’m just to lazy. :-)

Your MIL doesn’t have a new fancy printer with an IP address does she?

I’ve had an eFax account on every machine that I’ve owned since I lived in Michigan over ten years ago. I’ve had the same number, the free account only, and I’ve never – not once – received spam faxes. (And yes, I do get faxes to that number when sent. I check every time I move into a new computer, if not more often.)

Would it do to print it out and mail it to her? Stranger things have been done. Sometimes low tech wins.

@TropicalWillie, she does have a wireless router set up for the grand kids, but the fax machine is pretty old. I don’t understand the technology of which you speak but it sounds like a great idea!
@Jeruba, that’s probably what will happen. :-)
@CWOTUS, it looks like they want me to buy a subscription and I just want to send 2 pages. Receiving is free. Sending costs.

Yeah, the free account is good for receiving only.
