US Jellies: How do you transition from Halloween decorations to Thanksgiving/autumn decorations in your home?

Asked by DigitalBlue (7102points) October 29th, 2012

(Those of you who decorate for the holidays, anyhow.)
What do you put up for Halloween?
What do you take down?
What do you put up for Thanksgiving?

@DigitalBlue I’m male, do you really expect I’ll know the difference between the two decorations?

I don’t even decorate for Christmas, but if i did, I would say pumpkins not carved stays for TG. That goes for Autumn reefs, scarecrows, cornucopias, etc. Going up might be something that pay homage to the Native Americans who were the real reason and authors of TG; those silly pilgrims would have starved to death had it not been for the Native Americans (though it proved to be a wrong decision; should have let them die off on the vine).,

I wish I lived in the US. We do nothing for Halloween. It must be so fun. I’d love to see people dressed all ghoulish and whatever. One thing I can’t fathom if you could rectify is what is the difference between Thanks Giving and Xmas? Do you have two events? and decorate separately?

I had a few tragic Christmases so not my favorite time of year. I don’t even bother to put things up anymore. If I could I’d write them off.

My home is pretty much always decorated for Halloween. I keep my keys in a skull-shaped goblet on a small table with a spider-web shaped doily, for example.

The only major difference is the addition of a cinnamon broom (the store only sells them in fall, and I adore the smell) and a pumpkin or two that are raped for their seeds and then carved into depictions from sci-fi/fantasy novels (The Eye of Sauron is still a personal favourite)

Just like pumpkins and gourds and stuff for both holidays. We like don’t do anything on those holidays though. Pumpkins and gourds are just cool, y’know?

@Adirondackwannabe It’s like this Q needed a females only disclaimer :)

I put up fall-themed decorations, good for both. One or two Halloween-specific items come down on Nov. 1st.
