Who are the six people who show up under your facebook. Are they who you communicate with most or just random?

Asked by aggsalmost18 (76points) October 30th, 2012

I’ve googled it but I always get different answers. Everyone seems to have a different opinion on why those certain people are chosen. What are your thoughts?

Lots of theories… some people say it’s the people who visit your profile the most, but I think they’re just being paranoid. The reason I think that is that everyone wants a method of figuring out who visits their profile, and Facebook keeps insisting that they don’t allow anyone to have or gather that information – so why would they suddenly present such a selection of friends without saying so? I suspect they’re just randomly chosen.

Meanwhile, Facebook isn’t telling how they choose those 6 people, and I don’t think we’ll ever really know until they do.

If I’m thinking of the same thing as you (the six people on the main profile page of you), then I believe that it is random. I tested it by refreshing the page two times, and on the second image of the webpage, all but two people were different than the first. On the third image, all but one was different from the second. Therefore I think that it is random. either that or a lot of people are looking at my profile right now…should I be concerned?

Random. Mine changes every time I check my timeline.

I don’t add many people to Facebook, in fact pretty strict about who I do add. It’s usually six of eight people. That’s how small my Facebook friend’s list is. Oh sorry, no. Six of nine. One of them uses another FB account for their own reasons. I should think the larger the list you have the more varied the results.
