How do I turn off the preview of Facebook notifications on iPhone?

Asked by bhec10 (6458points) November 8th, 2012

So, on iOS 5 it is possible to turn off the preview text messages so that the alert on the Lock Screen just says “New Text Message” under the sender’s name.

I was wondering if it’s possible to do the same for the Facebook app?
Ideally just saying something like “Facebook: New Message from X”, or “New Wall Post”, or even just “New Notification” so that you have to go to the app to see what it is?

Basically I want to know when I have something on Facebook (be it a notification or message), but don’t want anyone else to be able to see it..

Thank you

You could turn off the Facebook alerts altogether. Other than that, I don’t think so.

I turned my off by removing my phone number from my profile.

The thing is I want to be notified when I receive a new message or someone posts something on my wall. I just didn’t want the preview to show up on the lock screen as well.

there is a setting on the lockscreen menu to hide the preview, it will still give you the audio notice, but you must enter your passcode to see the image

go to settings
go to notifications
go to facebook
under alert style choose none
