If you got fired after a few weeks on a contract consultant job, what would you do if the person tried to linkedin you?

Asked by Imadethisupwithnoforethought (14682points) November 12th, 2012

I took a consultant job to mentor a new VP who had never managed people before.

After two weeks, the person reported to the consultant company we had a personality conflict, and he couldn’t work with me. I said “Nice guy, we can’t work together with me as his subordinate, no harm no foul.”

He attempted to friend me on linkedin, after his other staff linkedin me. Is there any positive for me to accept his invite?

I think so . Maybe good networking. He sounds like he’s being cool about it, it might be a positive thing for you to accept.

I am a great believer in not burning your bridges. Who knows where that person may end up. In the future your paths may cross again and if you have taken a mature and professional approach to this situation, it may stand you in good stead.
