Can you help me with gift ideas?

Asked by demonictruth (455points) November 23rd, 2012

I am in the frustrating situation of living as a practical human being. I know I have everything I need to be content even though I’m 17. Here’s my dilemma, I need to come up with stuff I want for Christmas. This is made more difficult by my choice to join the armed forces. I ship out in July, so I need even less stuff because I will have my necessities issued to me. My question is then, what should I ask my inquiring family for, assuming I am a normal guy?

Thank you for your help.

Can I adopt you as my son! loll You seem like a great thoughtful guy. You could ask for a donation to a charity you really like. Or something that is needed for the whole family.

Then ask don’t ask for a lot of stuff, instead, ask for one expensive gift. A macbook, (or iMac), the new iPad, new iPhone, Xbox perhaps?
Or maybe something that means a lot to you.

Honestly I like all these ideas, thanks a bunch! And @Shippy, I never would have considered donating to charity, so I just might do that.

Ask for gift cards. Men love them and women love them. That’s all my daughter in law wants, That’s what my son wants. That’s what I want…and I’m a man. I particularly like Amazon gift cards because the variation is so wide.
