What would be the male equivalent to the vocal style of Cass Elliot?

Do you think it’s in the folk range? Or more in the Frank Sinatra-esque proud-show-tunes range.

It would definitely be in the latter, that guy in that band that sang, ‘American Woman” . I don’t know his name or ever the name of the band he was in, you are asking about old, old stuff, but if you look on you tube you can see.

Wow! This is a great question. I love(d) Cass Elliot’s voice. It was very folksy and beautiful, yet at the same time very powerful and clear. I’m trying to think of someone. I may have to get back to you on this one.

Right now, the only male person I can think of is James Blunt although he’s British. But he can do soft and pretty as well as powerful and high pitched in the same song! That combo reminds of Dream a Little Dream

I’d say Josh Groban has and Freddy Mercury had vocal qualities similar to those of Mama Cass.
