Is it Christmas where you are Jelly?

Asked by Bellatrix (21307points) December 24th, 2012

As Christmas moves across the globe I thought it would be nice to wish each other Merry Christmas, or whatever is appropriate for you at this time of year and where you live.

So, has Christmas arrived where you live yet?

Merry Christmas to you all from Australia. It’s 6.27 am and Christmas has arrived. Have a safe and happy Christmas everyone.

Not quite, it’s 20:30 over here in good old england town, just grabbing an hour or so on here before I bugger off to enjoy the night with the family.
Merry Christmas to you & yours though…have a good un :¬)

In Québec, people celebrate on the 24th, and presents are unwrapped at midnight. Christmas day itself is pretty much all but forgotten after that. XD
Going to my friend’s family’s place for tonight, and I might sleep there too, not sure. But yeah, it’s happening tonight.

Merry Christmas yall!

My question reads funny…. it’s early. What can I say? I’m still sleepy.

I’m in California, USA and it’s 1:07 p.m. so it’s still day time, Christmas Eve day : )

We’ll open presents today, simply for the fact that we will be traveling to the home of relatives early Christmas morning. Then we’ll open more presents with those folks and have a wonderful feast.

My aunt always makes Empanadas as a pre-dinner appetizer. Looking forward to those!

bookish1's avatar

@Kardamom: EMPANADAS! ENJOY!!!

It’s 4:15 Christmas Eve afternoon where I am. I’ve been cleaning up my apartment and I’m thinking about cooking my Christmas tofurkey tonight instead of tomorrow. But I might have a date tonight so we’ll see O_o

Merry Christmas, Jellies!!

ucme's avatar

@Symbeline The wife & I open each others presents when we go to bed, leave the kids to hog all the glory on the actual day itself…seems only fair.

Merry Christmas all from a rainy but humid and warm Auckland, NZ, it’s 10.37 a.m.. I will be having a mid-afternoon lunch with my father and his partner, the menu, I am told, includes: ham, watermelon & feta salad, green salad and new potatoes, followed by a meringue/cream/fresh fruit thingy and Christmas pudding… until then I’m watching Stranglers Wood, an episode of Midsomer Murders.… not a typical Christmas Day for me, my daughter and her husband are presently living in Melbourne and my mother, who would normally come up for Christmas, is unable to be here this year, it doesn’t quite feel the same.
* I do believe it’s looking somewhat brighter outside, perhaps the sun will still appear today after all……

Merry Christmas to you @Adagio, my Kiwi friend. Too woo… that’s the sound of an owl. You always hear owls in the background on Midsomer Murders. We should all be thankful we don’t live there. The crime rate is shocking!

Christmas Eve here in Boston, MA. 5:45PM and the stuffed lobsters and maple salmon just went in the oven.

Merry Christmas jellies!

marinelife's avatar

It is Christmas Eve here and I just talked to my family: mother, two sisters, a brother, niece and two nephews who were all celebrating together. It was the usual chaotic family scene!! Much laughter.

augustlan's avatar

6:15PM on Christmas Eve, here. I’m getting ready to sign off and finish up the last few things that need doing. Merry Christmas, jellies!

wundayatta's avatar

About three hours until Christmas here. According to Santa Tracker, he’s about to cross the Falkland Islands as I type these words.

Merry Christmas, All!

Depends what you consider Christmas. It is Christmas according to my husband. For him Christmas is the 24th. We already ate the Christmas dinner I made him. He also received a surprise gift in the mail from his new employer. I real santa moment! He is often disappointed about Christmas, but this little surprise really was a great touch. Tomorrow we plan to do the Jewish tradition of eating out Chinese food. Most of my friends Christmas is tomorrow, although tonight is Christmas Eve to them. For my Russian friend even though she is celebrating with her husband’s family tomorrow, her day is really Jan 7.

Merry Christmas to all from the southern hemisphere!!
It’s 10:19PM, we celebrate on the 24th and just rest tomorrow. Dinner is ready.

Santa seems to have skipped over Philly, according to Google, and is now in the Midwest.

It’s about 11:30 right now, and I’m now settling into bed for a good night’s sleep after going out to dinner with some family. I’m feeling a little under the weather again and I’m hoping that I’ll feel better tomorrow. Merry Christmas, everyone! :-)

I was a bit Grinchy before. While I hate Christmas (and any holiday that isn’t Halloween) I do hope you enjoy yours.

Coffee and presents.

This is the first Christmas our children slept in and we had to wake them up! We woke our daughter at 9:30am. When I was her age I was banging pots and pans at 7am with my sister, trying to wake our parents up. My children are too kind to us

It’s been a beautiful morning. :)

Shippy's avatar

@bookish1 Woot!! 4am is always a good sign.

Hawaii_Jake's avatar

Mele Kalikimaka! It’s 8 a.m. here in Hawaii.

Happy holidays to everyone :) finished celebrating with the family (yesterday and this morning! Yeesh!) and am just waiting to exchange gifts with my significant other. I’m sleepy and happy and need some hot cocoa, stat!

bookish1's avatar

Tofurkey is in the oven, on top of red, white, and blue potatoes, celery, and onions, tossed in olive oil, salt & so much pepper, paprika, thyme, and marjoram. Happy belated solstice y’all!

@Shippy: Thanks, it was an auspicious meeting!

glacial's avatar

I am Jelly here, and here it is Christmas (sort of). :)

Bellatrix's avatar

:-) @glacial, you’re looking a bit jelly there? Too much wine? Beer?

Boxing Day here and a lovely, soft rainy day. Had a beautiful Christmas Day with my family.

YARNLADY's avatar

Last Friday, Santa visited my grandson’s class. J J asked for some Mario Bros dolls to play with. What good luck, that is exactly what I had already bought and wrapped.

The two boys are now happily making up stories just like the people they have been watching on the computer videos with the five dolls and three cars they found when they unwrapped their gifts.

Just dragged my ass home after a loonnggg few days. Today was unexpectedly insane.

So another Christmas in the can. A good time was had by all, but I’m glad it’s over.

PhiNotPi's avatar

11:46 PM. Yes, today is Christmas where I live, although it won’t be Christmas for much longer. For better and for worse, time flows on.

bookish1's avatar

@cookieman: Did you have any COOKIES?
I had a Twix bar tonight. Haven’t had chocolate in months. It was worth it :D

@Bellatrix: I’m a bit jelly myself, I must say.

mangeons's avatar

It is no longer Christmas here, but I had a great day and I appreciate all the gifts I got and the awesome/hilarious time I got to spend with family. Here’s to another amazing Christmas, hope everyone’s was great as well! :-)

cookieman's avatar

@bookish1: Did I? My wife made chocolate-mint cookies and I may have had one or two. or three or ten

wundayatta's avatar

It’s Boxing Day, and all the guests are gone, and we are mostly cleaned up. But lots of leftovers.
