I remember two New Years specifically.

For the year 2000, Y2K that everyone was freaking out about, I was the tender age of 11. My best friend and also neighbor (very fun for us at the time) was at my house and we were playing a really long game of monopoly, probably not following most of the rules. But regardless, Monopoly was very much alive, and at midnight, when we did not explode, we threw all the fake money everywhere. And I remember that very well for some reason.

Also then in 2009, I was only 20 but I was in NYC with my boyfriend at the time who I was in a long distance and also very new and exciting relationship with. We were staying with his friend in Brooklyn and it was my first real NYC experience, somehow I didn’t get carded at a bar and we stayed out all night dancing wildly to really great music in a bar that wasn’t crazy crowded or overrun like most. Somehow it just worked out and it was incredible. We took a cab home. I am not a city person and New York is not my thing, but that night was so much fun.

The most memorable ones were probably the ones I don’t remember. I used to be the life of the party when I drank.

2008 was pretty memorable.
I had a hot date, literally. My hot tub was so hot he almost passed out trying to be cool. haha
Yeah well…what can I say?
When a woman brings a man home to her secluded lair in the woods, serves him good champagne and gets him to a rolling boil in her hot tub things can get dicey. Shrinkage wasn’t the problem, more like overcooked pasta, limp and flavorless hanging over the side of the pot. lol

It was just after midnight, 1/1/94. As we were walking to my car, I could hear dozens of rounds of “celebratory” gunfire going off in the distance all around us.

We decided to hurry to the car, just in case our bodies were in the downward path of one or more of those rounds.

Thankfully that idiocy was made illegal in 1994 and now there are only about 1–10 incidents a year, instead of close to a thousand.

None really, perhaps I should give this one a bash?

When I was in my late teens we went to the Rose Parade in Pasadena several years running. We slept on the street to get a good spot for viewing and it was a giant party all night long. Fun times but pretty much a young person’s game!

Oh I forgot that new years in 1979 when my oldest daughter was convieved. The result was memorable but the night? meh.

I generally take a lot of psychedelics and go to a concert every New Years soooo I have a tendency not to remember much. The one New Years Eve I’ll never forget though is a few years back my fiancĂ©e and I talked a kid out of suicide near the train in Philly.

My boyfriend and I were in our second year of college and scraped up enough money together to afford a five star hotel in the city where we could see fireworks without going anywhere. Expensive, but definitely memorable. And not just because of the fireworks If you know what I mean lol

There were two, and both involved incredible make-out sessions. I must have been so high. But I was young and anything seemed possible. One involved mushrooms. The woman had an incredible tongue. Come to think of it, the other time involved incredible tongue, too. I think I could have done that all night, but alas, each party ended in a somewhat unrequited manner. No matter. I’ll never forget the kissing. This would have been around 1979 or 80 or 81.

I think I’d have to say the most recent New Year celebration has been my favorite. I went night sledding with my daughter last night (it’s still Jan.1 as I type this), then we played Just Dance for Kinect for 2½ hours straight. We topped the night off with a few bottle rockets after midnight. It was the most enjoyable New Year’s that I can remember.
