How to improve yourself and grow?

Asked by akilispensor (20points) January 6th, 2013

I have been looking into improving myself and learning how to communicate and connect with others better. But learning to build and grow yourself has been more challenging than I thought

Welcome to Fluther.

Well, aside from what @gailcalled said, which is certainly good advice, because you do want to have some kind of focus for your intent, do be mindful of that intent. In other words, if you consider that “everything I do can be improved” then as you do things, consider how you can do them better… and then follow through on that and make the improvement. Keep at that until it becomes a habit.

Read a lot, meet new people, learn to do new things, and most of all: keep an open mind.

I’ve found that taking classes in subjects I’m interested (writing, for example) in is a wonderful path to self-improvement. Not only do I learn about new things, I also have the opportunity to interact with like-minded, and often NOT-like minded, people who open my mind to new ideas and ways of thinking.
