My “favorite” is a moving target, but for now, this is taking a turn at the top:

From a former slave turned preacher:

“Lord, we ain’t what we want to be; we ain’t what we ought to be; we ain’t what we gonna be, but, thank God, we ain’t what we was”

Today, it is Mary Oliver’s

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?”

From the poem, The Summer Day

I still love this quote from the movie Outlaw Josey Wales, “don’t piss down my back & tell me it’s raining.”
Loosely speaking, “quit ya bullshit fool!” Actually that was more like MR.T speaking, but ya catch ma drift.

I have a lot of favorite quotes, but one I can think of right now is:
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

The one I’ve been using a lot (origin unknown):

“Either we’re all God’s children or none of us are.”

My favorite changes with the clock, and here is this hour’s pick:

~Garrison Keillor

Jean-Jacques Rousseau said;

(Vous oubliez que) Les fruits sont à tous, et la terre n’est à personne.

And who can resist this, by Billy Collins;

”...the trouble with poetry is
that it encourages the writing of more poetry…”

Too many to list, but one made me almost do a spit take today.

“If you have a few hundred followers and you let some of them molest children, they call you a cult leader. If you have a billion, they call you The Pope” – Bill Maher.

Love that guy.

“If more people were like me, the world would be a peaceful place.” – Adolf Hitler.

I’m kidding, I’m kidding. Mine would have to be:
“Failure is not falling down but refusing to get up.”

“You can close your eyes to the things you do not want to see, but you cannot close your heart to the things you do not want to feel.”
