What else is in Oxford, besides the university?

Asked by tiaratenn (52points) February 27th, 2013

It’s strange that people identify Oxford mostly with Oxford university. Same thing happens with Cambridge. I’m sure there must be more to Oxford than just Oxford University. Don’t you think?

It’s basically a small city with all the pubs, shops and restaurants that a small city has but the university is an integral part of the town. I got a job offer there once but could not get the required work permit.

There’s the Cherwell river river (pronounced Charwell), which is a lovely sleepy river to go punting on. Also kayaking. There’s the Ashmolean Museum. There’s Magdelen College School, the best boys school in the UK. There are, I’m sure, hundreds of places to get a decent curry on Thanksgiving Day, as I did, back in 1971. Lovely meal.
