How do you disinfect a sink full of vomit that has been "cleaned?"?

Asked by Aster (20023points) March 2nd, 2013

Our half bath sink has been vomited in seven times today. He “cleaned it up” but I know it’s permeated into the very fiber, the very core of the sink and everything in that poisonous room. What should I do to kill any viruses and how often?

Bleach. Wipe down every surface with bleach. Tell him to vomit in the toilet.

Seven times? Call the ambulance… or the undertaker.

But bleach and alcohol are both good disinfectants.

hahaha! Are we speaking of straight bleach? Sounds a little too strong.

I’d use diluted bleach. 1:10 is the recommended amount for disinfecting. That means one part bleach for every nine parts water. ¼ cup bleach to 2 ¼ cup water

Since he should have used the toilet why not use toilet cleaner if it gets a loo clean it will kill the vomit!

Second 1/10 bleach and water. Dump some down the sink. Then rinse everything completely. The bleach will corrode plated fixtures.

A combo of water and bleach. Use spray first, after it goes down the drain, spray again and wipe off. Never use the sink for vomiting. It could clog it up.

I keep an emptied liquid detergent squeeze bottle filled with 1 part bleach to 5 parts water for sterilizing things. I can squirt it out all around the sink and let it sit for a few minutes. Then I wash and rinse it off.
Be careful of your clothes!
Sometimes I squirt some into the dishwasher when it is doing the first rinse.

The Noro virus is going around my location. Symptoms vomit Bleach is the only thing that kills it. Other wise vinger water solution should be fine.
