How do you Type Out Symbols?

Asked by that1mom (52points) June 12th, 2008

I know I am probably one of the only people out there who has no clue how people do this. But the hearts, four-leafed clovers, etc. How do you type those out?

@that1mom, what kind of machine are you on?

On Windows machines, you can try: Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map.

I use it so much that I keep a shortcut to it handy.

I know when I need some sybols I use the method of holding down ALT and typing the proper 4 number sequence to get the character I want. Like “ALT” 0169 = © and ALT 0174 = ®. I think the full character map can be located here
