Do you remember the song "Do You Remember?"?

Asked by flo (13313points) March 20th, 2013

What year was it from? Was it a hit or somewhat of hit song?
I’m literally trying to find out how many people remember it being played on the radio.

I went to his website here
What does the middle part of the homepage do?

See if it’s this Paul Anka song that was used by Polaroid Camera.

According to Billboard, the song never charted.

Sorry it’s hard to read – this is a cached version of an old page. The reference to the song is about halfway down the page.

Thanks @Pachyderm_In_The_Room and @glacial. So, I suppose neither of you remember it?

BTW, in his homepage under “Discography” the columns just keep moving left and right and it is impossible to click on anything.

according to his discography it is a newer song released in 2010 on The Music of My Life

Billboard article

Thanks @blueiiznh when you refer to ”his discography” you mean on his own website?

I posted the question because it sounds to me catchy and memorable enough even if it didn’t make it as a hit.

There is a line in the Anka song, repeated twice, that goes:
“Remember, do you remember?”

And there are many other songs with the title Do You Remember?

I remembered that I remembered Lucille when you asked me whether I remembered “Do You Remember”.

flo's avatar

@Pachyderm_In_The_Room yes I noticed that.

@rebbel who is Lucille?

rebbel's avatar

@flo A formerformerformer Jelly.

Yes, I remember that song. What a piece of crap. It doesn’t surprise me it was Paul Anka.

Are you thinking of Try To Remember ?

Try to remember,
the kind of September,
When life was slow
And oh, so mellow.

Hit in 1965 for The Brother Four. I remember it on the radio.

Paul Anka was too busy Having my Baby

glacial's avatar

@flo No, I’d never heard it before. When I read your question, I immediately thought of Try To Remember from The Fantastics (which @zenvelo just mentioned above me). But then I went to YouTube and found this odd tribute to Sedaka’s song, and also a live version.

Not really my taste, I’m afraid.

@zenvelo, Having My Baby always reminds me of WKRP!

This is the youtube version of Neil Sedaka singing Do you remember. As far as I can find it came out in 09–10 @blueiiznh is probably more correct.

Do you remember the 21st night of September?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away…

?

Do you remember, do you remember
Do you remember all of the times we had?
Do you remember, do you remember
Do you remember all of the times we had?

glacial's avatar

Do you remember your President Nixon?
Do you remember the bills you have to pay?
Or even yesterday?

whitenoise's avatar

Do you remember
picnics in the park
Do you remember
Dancing in the dark
Do you remember
Lying in the sand
All these special moments
We had in wonderland

?

Well… No… Sorry

augustlan's avatar

That’s exactly the song I thought of, @whitenoise. I do remember that one was quite popular, but apparently not actually named “Do You Remember”, dang it.

flo's avatar

@glacial and @blueiiznh and @nofurbelowsbatgirl pinpointed it.
I don’t mean it is for everyone but is it that much different from his other hits? I don’t hear it as a what they call a “filler”.

filmfann's avatar

This is the Paul Anka tripe.

flo's avatar

@filmfann I don’t like that song at all. Does it, and the one I’m referrring to sound similar?
