How do people seeking followers stumble upon Fluther?

Asked by bookish1 (13159points) March 23rd, 2013

Do they just type “Follow me on Tumblr/Twitter” into Google, or what? Do they bomb every social media site for which they can sign up?

What is your guess?

The latter.

There was an article on ehow that suggested fluther as a goo way to get followers. I’ve tried the link from an old question but it seems to be dead. There were some other sites that had similar stuff on them such as this one on yahoo answers and here which are still active.

Why do people want followers? I picture individuals yelling, “Follow me!” and racing off in one directions and others doing the same thing so they are all rushing helter skelter into the hinterlands. For what?

@Sunny2 life is a popularity contest for some people and having a load of friends on facebook or whatever is how they keep score.

I have no idea. Come to think of it, I don’t even remember how I stumbled upon Fluther. I think it might have been via a friend of mine. Wow. How did you guys find out about Fluther?

I think they might search things like ‘Websites to promote blog on’ or whatever.

I’ve been here for years and never once even considered soliciting followers. If people like what I ask and what I write, then they are free to add me to their fluther.
