Anybody else battling this horrible stomach flu?

Asked by yankeetooter (9651points) March 30th, 2013

I haven’t eaten anything but apple sauce, Jello, and yogurt for four days, and I think if I drink another cup of ginger ale I’ll go crazy. Now I’m getting better gradually, but still really weak. Anybody else going through this?

No thank god but I did have a killer sinus infection earlier this winter.

Back in December my sister’s grandson was contagious, and gave this flu to at least 6 people at his birthday party. What a nightmare! I stopped vomiting after 2 days, but the loose bowels continued for nearly a week.
Drink some Gatoraide, and know that I feel your pain.

A few weeks ago I had gastroentoritis. It was truly awful! As a sufferer of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, I can normally cope with vomiting or diarrhoea, but this was just horrendous. It was 11pm and I was badly sick, but I was convinced I’d emptied my stomach, then went to bed. However, every hour I woke up and was sick. My stomach was definitely empty by the third time and I was left badly shaking and so weak that I just kept a towel on my bed and was sick on there from then on, because I just didn’t have the energy to go to the bathroom anymore. I woke up at 6am and actually didn’t throw up, so I made the huge mistake of thinking I was okay and gulped down a whole bottle of water. After about ten minutes, the result was pretty much this.

Take care of yourself and get well soon!

I have been healthy but have you been checked by a doctor? Our town (in Northern California) had a novovirus out break back in January, closed two schools. It’s like it’s the worst flu ever!

If the Flu..try consume soup. ( liquid only) where one can get vital protein which helps give you strength back.
If not diagnosed as the Flu by a doctor…it has same symptoms of Lactate intolerance.
Make sure you see a Doctor to determine.
Good Luck.

Oh, I’m so sorry. like @janbb I had a severe sinus infection at the beginning of the year and I hope I don’‘t get the flu.

No, but apparently a lot of my “friends” on facebook are dealing with the stomach flu, either their kids have it or they themselves do.

Now is my chance to ask what Stomach Flu is, it is not a term we use in NZ and to be completely honest, I’ve always thought it a very strange term, stomach and influenza are not things I associate with each other.

@Adagio Imagine your stomach announcing “All bodily contents! Evacuate! Please use the closest exit!” You feel like a bazooka, with things blowing out of both your mouth and ass, with no control.
Aren’t you glad you asked?

@filmfann Thank you for your… graphic description, sounds like what we call gastroenteritis.
