If intuition is related to psychic powers, then the opposite of intuition is sensing, then what is the opposite flip side come from not intuition, but sensing in regards to personality testing (details inside)?

Asked by talljasperman (21916points) April 8th, 2013

From the myers/briggs testing if sensing is the opposite of intuition and intuition is linked, for fun, to psychic powers, then what cool abilities should the sensing personality have?

Dogs have sensing abilities.
And if we as humans can have that too, everything would be based on how we sensed..or felt?

What does the cost of going to college/university have to do with how strong you are ? ? ?

I’m with @gailcalled on this one. I have no idea what you’re asking.

O.K. I’ll try to explain my question better. If intuition runs hand by hand with psychic powers…. then what cool power runs hand in hand with it’s opposite personality trait (which happens to be sensing)... from the myers/briggs personality tester. My guess is common sense or being grounded. I would like a cool funky title like the intuits get (physic powers) ... Can you help find the cool power that each personality gets?

Sorry. I cannot.

Then sensing is directly linked to reality based awareness. “Sensing” is using your senses.

But intuition is not the same as psychic powers. Psychic powers don’t exist. Intuition comes from being able to arrive at knowledge without having to process the facts as part of deductive reasoning.

I’m kinda disappointed that nobody plays along anymore :(

Okay, @talljasperman I’ll take a shot. What if psychic powers are extra information about the world around the person, could sensing be understanding the world inside the person? What if “sensing” types could know when cancer is forming in their own bodies, or track a drug flowing through their blood?

I’m with @gailcalled and sense she’s correct.

Intuition is related to unconscious memory and unconscious thought processes.

Why do so many holistic healers refer to themselves as being intuitive rather than calling themselves psychic?
Although there is nothing wrong with being referred to as a psychic, the term itself has gotten a bit of a bad rap.
I personally prefer not to be associated with the label psychic.
I think the change in labeling could be to create a distinction between those of us who are interested in helping others with our intuitive tools from the stigma attached from the scamming fortune tellers who call themselves psychic.
Because we are all psychic on some level this ability need not be looked at as if it is a gift or talent. It is a muscle that can be flexed or lay dormant.
Not everyone uses their intuitive natures professionally to help others.
Many of us who do are more comfortable being referred to as intuitive counselors/healers.
—————
What’s the difference?
Someone who seeks a psychic may ask: “When will I meet my soul mate?”

A person consulting an intuitive counselor asks: “What can I do differently in my life to help attract a loving partner?”

The term psychic belongs to the field of parapsychology without any basis in solid science.

“Intuitive counselor”?

Sheesh. What BS.
