I just found out about it recently from a family member who gives it good reviews and I’m gonna try out staying at someone’s place in a few weeks. It seems like a really good deal and all the places I looked at had good reviews. It seems like you can find places that are much better deals than hotels at a similar price. I can try to give a more detailed report in four weeks or so. Just message me if I forget.

My mom used it to come visit me in Chicago. She got an entire apartment for cheaper per night than a room at a hotel downtown. I was there for the whole meetup/process, everything went very smoothly. I would be willing to do that next time I travel.

We’ve used VRBO.com and bedandbreakfast.com with good success.

I just used it in Staten Island. The best part was that it was 2 blocks from the house where my brother didn’t have room for me. The worst part was that the furniture was bizarre. “My” room was hyper comfy. It was affordable. The kitchen was crazy – nothing made sense in it – family was bachelor dad and little boy. Sweet. But you can’t tell everything you want to know from the photos.

My wife and I recently used this service to sublet a brownstone apartment in Brooklyn, NY for the month of January from a professional photographer. At first we were a little taken aback by his decorating tastes: Religious artifacts, Jesuses in flight, combined with what only can be described as tributes to men who love other men.

Every other drawer was what we all might refer to as a “junk drawer”. But then it dawned on us: Wait a minute, we didn’t sign up to stay at the Hilton. This is someone’s home, and you go in knowing that how they happen to like their surroundings is what you are expected to accept.

Bottom line: A lot of fun and very pleasant stay…..even with a gigantic 15 ft photo of his Mexican dad wearing a sombrero and holding a goat watching over us during every meal in the dining area….
