Any tips for finding lost arrows?

Asked by simone54 (7629points) April 21st, 2013

I just started shooting a recurve bow. I can finally get a proper full draw but now if I miss the target, the arrow goes very far. I looked all over for them. I have a lot of weeds in the field I shoot so it’s hard to find them. Any ideas?

This may or may not work but i would say maybe insert or attach a small piece of aluminum (so as not to affect aerodynamics) and use a metal detector to pick them up. hope this help!

Well, the tips are already metal.

Put up a larger backstop.

Tie some neon colored plastic ribbon to the back of the arrow. It’ll stick out in the field.

Metal detector will work great, I’ve been asked to go find arrows and was successful. Just use a long rope and put colored flags or markers down to limit the area behind the target, that would be to shorten hunt time.

Use flaming arrows – your accuracy will suffer some, but you’ll have no trouble finding them later :P

I didn’t get a metal detector but it was probably the best idea. Adding anything to arrow would affect the way it flies and ruin accuracy.

I have just gotten better at keeping my eye on them and listening to where they land.
