Is the show Jersey Boys any good?

Asked by Rarebear (25192points) April 24th, 2013 from iPhone

I’m alone in Vegas for a meeting and I’m finding myself with nothing to do Saturday night. Saw signs for Jersey Boys and am wondering if its worth the dough?

I generally like comic musicals. I just saw Book of Mormon on Broadway and loved it.

Depends how much dough. Being a Jersey girl and a msuic lover, I enjoyed it quite a lot although I am not a big fan of musicals. Not as sharp as “The Book of Mormon” but quite pleasant.

If you do not know about the Four Seasons it will not make much sense to you.

My parents loved the Four Seasons and I heard their music all my life.

I saw the show, and with that background I really liked it.

You should see it.

@josie thanks. I have no idea what the four seasons are actually.

@Rarebear You might want to listen to some of their music then and see what you think before deciding.

@Rarebear
Me neither, except I heard their records. But it is still a good show. You should go see it anyway.

I saw it on New York. I LOVED it even though the 4 Seasons were about 10 years before my time.

The 4 Seasons was a band. In my opinion, they are along the lines of the Beach Boys.

Walk like a man…..

I saw it in Brisbane and enjoyed it. I’m not really into ‘shows’ but it was an enjoyable evening. I asked my husband he said “it was alright but he wouldn’t pay to go and see it again”.

Listen to some Four Seasons music.

Everyone I know who has seen it loved it. I really want to see it with my parents who I know would enjoy it. I would know most of the music though, maybe you know the music and don’t realize it. I’m in my 40’s, but grew up listening to all of it with my parents growing up.

Frankie Valli was the lead singer and a minor matinee idol in his day.

HIs best-known song was Can’t Take My Eyes off of You (1960.)

Personally, a little of this goes a long way.

The hottest ticket on Broadway right now is likely “The Book of Mormon, ” the debut Broadway musical from the creators of “South Park, ” Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

@annac I saw it three weeks ago. It was great.

So I saw Jersey Boys. The caveat for me is that through the 70s, I grew up with Zeppelin, Tull, Floyd, and a slew of other British prog rock bands you’ve probably never heard of. So although I knew the music, I was never a fan.

With that caveat, I enjoyed the show. I’m glad I paid for the cheap seats, though.
