A movie soundtrack that got better over time for you?

Asked by ucme (50047points) May 3rd, 2013

Yeah, I watched Rocky 4 last night, not seen it in ages & the music was kick arse good…in direct contrast to when I first saw it as a teen when I thought the songs were utter crap.
Any such examples for you, or even just share some rockin soundtracks you love…that would be good also, i’m flexible like that =0}

When I first saw Trainspotting, I was more interested in the characters and lush cinematography…Wasn’t much into electronica back then and didn’t really notice the music.
But I’ve been rewatching it recently and I only now realize how splendid the soundtrack is. It’s almost as if Underworld custom made that song for the junk-sick scene with the baby crawling on the ceiling…

Rocky Horror?

Rocky Horror! Also, Fight Club. I honestly think no one would like either one if they haven’t seen the movies.

I do remember watching the movie A Knights Tale and thinking “This movie has the best soundtrack of any movie I’ve ever heard.” I can’t remember what the movie was really about but the music was great.
I don’t know of a movie that I didn’t realize how great the movie was until later though.

“Amadeus”

“The Godfather” – music by Nino Rota. I tended to not pay attention to movie music until I was much older. Now I think it’s one of the greatest scores ever.

Honorable mention: “Jurassic Park” (John Williams).
Also stuff by Randy Newman.

I used to be a huge consumer of movie soundtracks. Some that lasted the longest were Trainspotting, The Commitments, Pretty in Pink, Until the End of the World, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, and… do I have to say it? Purple Rain.

I didn’t always pay attention to scores. However it has been something I have come to sppreciate. I like some of Tarentino’s soundtracks I actually bought the one with the dodge charger in it. (having a bran fart) Inglorious bastards and the first kill bill.

I liked weeds soundtrack for the first season. And I know there are many others i am forgetting.

@rosehips Weeds had a great soundtrack. I’ve also been enjoying the songs on the UK series Being Human. I don’t know if anyone collected those – there’s a soundtrack to the US knock-off, but I haven’t watched that; probably totally different.

@glacial Glad you agree. I did see a few bbc Being Human shows. I can’t say the music particularly stood out to me. I’ll keep that in mind when I watch it again.

I saw the previews for the US version, I wasn’t impressed. And sadly enough I have seen none of the movies on your list.

Though Uberbatman has a some good ones with Requiem and Batman, haven’t peeked at the mystery one but curious.

@rosehips Allow me to relieve your flatulent brain…Death Proof.

@rosehips I loved Being Human through Series 3… after that, it went through some radical cast changes, and I don’t think the storylines held up as well. It was good while it lasted, though. I’m not even going to attempt the US version! I hate it when they Americanize good British series.

Soundtracks/scores that I’ve always liked and just keep getting better every time I hear them:

Lord of the Rings
Braveheart
Jurassic Park
Rocky Horror
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
Rob Roy
Harry Potter
Twilight (Hey, you may hate the movies, but the soundtracks are kick ass!)
Practical Magic

I’m sure there are some I’m forgetting.

@WillWorkForChocolate The Twilight soundtracks are kick ass. Though, I enjoyed the movies as well.

Saturday Night Fever. When that movie came out, I couldn’t stand disco music. I was into The Beatles, Journey and Rush at that time. About 20 years later, I realized how fantastic the Bee Gees disco stuff was!

I actually liked the Bee Gees earlier stuff, from the late 60’s, at the time, like The Bee Gees 1st

The Hangover and Clerks 2 get better every time for me.
