Why do I get regular headaches?

Asked by TossingSpades (129points) May 17th, 2013

Almost everyday, I seem to get the same headache. Usually, not on weekends, only in Math or Chemistry late in the day after lunch. It’s always in the same spot, and it’s irritatingly constant. Any input?

Welcome to the collective. To make a reasonable guess, we would need some more information.

For example, it’s possible that if it’s late afternoon, several hours after lunch, that you are hungry and need a snack. I would go for a combination of protein and carbs (quick relief and longer-lasting relief) for example cheese and crackers or a handful of nuts and a piece of fruit.

Where on your head is the headache centered? It might be a tension headache if you struggle to concentrate on those two subjects.

Do you need glasses to see the “white board” ?

Welcome to Fluther.

Thank you, that might help, I’ll try that.
It’s at the base of the head where the head meets the neck, and the whole right side.

No, no eye sight problems. I’ve actually got great vision, and I sit at the front of both classes, but good thought.

Thank you, Tropical Willie^^

Okay now the question of position. . . . How far from the “White board” or front of classroom. I use to go to the movies and sit so close to the screen we would put our feet on the stage, cranking the neck maybe causing a muscle in the neck tightening to lift the head up.

It’s around 18ft from the desk to the white board.

Can you see the entire board without cranking your head around including back and forth/side to side?

Sounds like a tension headache. Take some Tylenol or ibuprofen for the pain if you need it, and don’t worry about it. If it continues after school gets out, or starts popping up during other, unrelated tasks, get checked out. In that case, it might be serious. But it probably isn’t.

Low blood sugar. Skipping on meals. Lack of sleep. Eating fast food. Too much soda. Caffeine addiction. Not enough water. Not enough protein. Not enough omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. Negative mindset. Downer Debby Mindset. Stress. Immense sunlight. Not taking enough deep breathes throughout the day. Not enough exercise.

These are what usually lead to my frequent headaches. I used to have them 3 times a week. Since I’ve started excercising and eating on time and correctly I’m down to about 1 to 2 headaches a month (Usually when I don’t get enough sleep, I can wake up feeling fine and dandy then I get through the work day but after I eat my meal I get exhausted)

Do you drink enough water? If you get dehydrated about the same time everyday, you can get a consistent headache. Same with not eating enough protein during the day. So you have to drink water or other healthy fluid, and also get some protein, eat well at lunch.

Plus Math and Chem are stressful subjects. Could be the whole collection of factors.

I drink a lot of water, it’s habit. Kickboxing and singing requires it, also… but I think lack of sleep might do it, finals have been pretty rough lately. Lots of homework.

I’m going to go in a slightly different direction with this… if you’re not getting these headaches on weekends at the same time, then I’m going to say it’s something environmental in those rooms maybe? Something like a mold issue, high VOC paint, perhaps a varnish or a finish that’s gassing off, something on/in the carpet maybe?
