When we were in Sydney we had one of those oil filled radiators and it wasn’t very efficient unless you sat on it. But that was 15 years ago. In Queensland we had the ac/heater thing. I think they are called splits. That worked pretty well. Of course, in southern Qld we rarely needed heat and we had overhead fans to push the hot air down. Now we are in Vic and it is freakin freezing!!! We have a gas fired heater in the fireplace and a couple of electrics. I would kill for a house with doors that fit and central heating. I almost think you are better off with the little electrics with thermostats in every room. Just remember to turn them off when you leave the room. How’s it going over there???

All is well, I haven’t gotten a bill from the gas or electric yet I hope I don’t pass out when I do. Horror stories never ending!! I have a new lg air conditioner/heater, and a dimplex fin oil filled heater in the lounge room, and a little panel heater in my bedroom. It hasn’t gotten below about 11 at night. Gas isn’t an option for heat in this house. i do have gas cooking and hot water. I am scared to death what my bill might be. Have you gotten a bill yet, Rooey? I didn’t know you moved! Victoria BRRRRRRRRRR!!

We were bored and tired of being hot and sticky after 6 years in the territory and a total of about the same in Qld. so we thought we would try Vic for a change. I have lived in all states on the mainland except SA and WA, they are next on the list, heheheh! We like to be self employed so we buy small businesses that are in trouble, get them back in shape and the sell and move. Keeps life interesting, keeps us busy and our brains from stagnating with old age!
Our electric and gas bills run about 150 each, they are billed alternate months. We keep it nice and warm but we only heat the kitchen, living area of the house. But the door is open most of the time for the dogs to go in and out. I hear about terrible electric bills but so far we haven’t had any. The water bills can be fearful too, at least here, so keep an eye on that too.
