Does anyone Know why Jim Graves dropped out of his Congressional race right after Michelle Bauchmann decided not to run?

Asked by Judi (40025points) May 31st, 2013

It seems to me he would be a shoe in now that Bauchmann is out.
What’s going on up in Minnesota anyway???

It is the state that elected a pro wrestler Governor and a comedian to the Senate. I don’t think they know what they are doing sometimes.

I have been told that it should be “shoo in” instead of “shoe in.” Lets just pretend we are in the Middle East and throwing shoes at each other ok?

According to this article, Graves was only running to challenge what he sees as “the ineffective leadership and extremist ideology of Michele Bachmann.” That is, he didn’t want to win the office so much as he wanted her to lose it. He thought she was bad for the district, and now his political goal of removing her from elected office has been achieved. No further campaigning is necessary.

@SavoirFaire I was just guessing, but that was my guess. He is a very successful entrepreneur. He didn’t “need” the job. I think he was running to remove an embarrassment in his hometown, and when the embarrassment removed herself, his rationale to run was gone.

Just because Graves is a democrat it doesn’t mean that he can’t be as bat shit crazy as his republican opponent. He says that he only ran to get rid of Bachmann.

Both parties seem to be a place where assholes congregate.

@Ron_C Assholes don’t congregate only in politics. There is a confusing 3-lane double rotary you pretty much have to use to get to of from my house. It’s only about 3 blocks away from home. It has heavily traveled MA. Route 16 going straight through, and Route 99 plus Main Street, Everett branching off the western loop as well. At rush hour each day, it’s absolutely packed with assholes.

Actually, I am a keen observer of humanity and an ass-man too boot. So in the course of my 69 years, I have observed a lot of posteriors up close and personal. Every single one had an asshole. So I am given to think the old witticism, “Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one and most of them stink.” is actually quite accurate. I am aware some politicians have opinions that are distinctly malodorous and probably the same individuals have assholes that are equally offensive. But that seems to apply to the general population, as well.
