This has been sitting out here far too long without an answer so I will give you one.

No.

Eastern Myth is beautiful because it starts at the vanishing point where all thought is the collective unconscious. You can pick anything out of Western thought and try to fit it in to Eastern myth and find a fit. Those people were refining their belief system when the jews were building Mastabas for the Egyptians.

Try this. Think of something in Western Mythology I can not explain in Eastern and I will owe you a beer.

There’s a difference between “based on” and “inspired by”. I’m neither Stan Lee nor Jack Kirby ( the original illustrator and writer, respectively) so I don’t know what was in their minds in 1966 when Silver Surfer was first released.

But I imagine it’s safe to assume that the Dalai Lama was not a major consideration when they were drawing the comic 47 years ago.

If you want to find parallels between fiction and real life, there are tons of them. But that doesn’t mean they were intentional on the part of the fiction writer, nor are they even all valid.
