How do I find my lost password?

Asked by Headhurts (4505points) June 5th, 2013

I have created another user on my laptop and stupidly not written the password down. There are 2 main passwords I always use, and it isn’t either of those. I can’t think for the life of me what it must be now? Is there anyway I can find this out? If not, does it really matter, or do I need to find it? Thank you.

Based on your other questions, I can’t help but think that you are actually trying to get into someone else’s password-protected account. Good luck with that.

Actually no I’m not. I already know his passwords.

Actually, there are several ways to do this. Like @glacial I am suspicious of you and your motives, but it’s your life and your conscience, not mine.

Follow the directions here: http://www.geek.com/news/windows-8-password-reset-trick-requires-no-third-party-software-1532242/

or slightly more difficult, here: http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/

For God sake, I know his passwords already and he knows mine. I have created another user so I can use another music store. I haven’t used the password I normally use. If I can’t change it, I was asking if it would be alright to keep the other account, or if I would need to close it. If you don’t like me fine, don’t answer my posts please. If I wanted to find out something, I would ask it in a thread. I’m not ashamed to say I am messed up. If I wanted info on how to spy, I would ask it. I simply wanted to know if I could get rid of this user I have created, by either finding the password for it or not.

One of those accounts is an admin account. Log in with that and go to control panel and change the password on the account with the lost password from there.
