What can you tell me about this nerve connection?

Asked by Ltryptophan (12091points) June 5th, 2013

At the crevice on the right side of my right nostril, at the bottom of the crevice, directly above my i-tooth, so much so that if I push down on that spot, I feel the root of the i-tooth, the skin, has a sensitive nerve! If I press this nerve spot with my fingernail, like an itch, it sends a very strange sensation (sort of like a sore feeling, or itchy feeling) to the area around my tonsil area on my left side! What is going on there! It’s been that way forever! lol

I’m sort of lost on “the crevice on the right side of my right nostril” and “the bottom of the crevice” (maybe it’s a good idea not to have your face photographed and posted, I’m just sayin’), but I do know what an eyetooth is. It’s not an i-tooth.

Unfortunately, since I haven’t had tonsils as of circa 1959, I can’t help any more with sensations having to do with tickling tonsils. (You’re sure that you’re not being kissed when this is happening, right? It sounds damned unlikely, with you poking crevices in your nostril and all, but I thought I’d ask.)

I do know that facial nerves can seem to have some weird pathways, though. Maybe Rarebear or Trailsillustrated or another physician or dentist can answer.

Ayurvedic medicine would identify that as the upper terminus of the “pingala” nadi that runs from there down to the base of the spine. On the left side is the ‘Ida” nadi.

There is a lovely pranayama breathing exercise, analoma viloma that balances the energies of the two sides. It is a calming yet energizing thing to do.

Probably a referred sensation. They both have the same nerve route, so when you push on one, you feel it somewhere else.

Related, when people have a heart attack they will feel pain in their left shoulder because heart pain and shoulder pain have a similar route. People will gallbladder pain will feel pain in their back. Same thing.
