What do you wear at home?

Asked by Headhurts (4505points) June 13th, 2013

When you are at home with your s/o, do you slob around or do you make an effort?
Probably 5 out of 7 nights I will dress up. Do my hair, make up, wear decent/sexy clothing. The nights I don’t, I feel like I am letting myself go, letting him down.

Oh poo, my effort at looking good sitting home stopped after the 6th year of marriage or so. I run around half-naked most of the time, t-shirt and panties, cleaning and relaxing, he doesn’t seem to mind. ;)

Very little.

marinelife's avatar

As little as possible.

shego's avatar

I wear pajama pants and a t-shirt, and my husband doesn’t care.

ucme's avatar

Tee-shirt & jogging pants or sports vest & shorts, if it’s really warm just the shorts.

ucme's avatar

Shit, I missed the opportunity to toss a Prince lyric in, I should have said…
I wear a raspberry beret & if it was warm I wouldn’t wear much more, too late now.

My grandfather’s SS uniform.

This time of year, shorts and a t-shirt. That’s the best outfit for housework, gardening, cooking, and running errands.

But, I always wear makeup. A few years ago, I made a New Year’s resolution to use makeup every day, even when I have no plans to leave my home or go anywhere. That resolution has been very easy to keep; makeup helps me feel good about myself, and it keeps me from crossing that line between casual and sloppy.

My trunk(s).

Usually a wifebeater or a t-shirt and yoga pants.

(Is this supposed to be NSFW? :) Right now I have on a African animals print light cotton shirt and a pair of green khaki shorts with paint splatters on them. Barefootin’.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Dutchess_III HA! Bra-less? Just kidding since you said NSFW.

Depending on the season, I usually wear sweatpants, shorts, t-shirt, flannel shirts, pajamas, long-sleeve shirts or hoodies, slippers, socks and bare feet. Oh and usually a cap.

I shower around 7–7:30 now in the summer and then put on a cool little summer nighty and do my thing, which usually includes watering the garden, having a beer or two and scampering around my little private yard/porch. If the neighbors wish to spy on me, knock yourself out! lol

I wear what I’d wear to the store. These days shorts and a t shirt. During the winter, jeans and a t-shirt.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

When I’m at home, I’m usually in pajamas of some sort. Baggy shorts and baggy t-shirt, or comfy pajama pants and baggy t-shirt…

I only wear sexy nighties when I’m aiming at being seductive. My hair typically looks nicer then, but I don’t do anything special to it, nor do I wear makeup.

Berserker's avatar

Chainmail and hat with horns. I also wear that outside.

^^^ Mmm…mmm

Usually nothing. Or whatever is soft.

cookieman's avatar

Shorts and a tee-shirt, year ‘round. Socks in the Winter.

Pants and a T-shirt, or if it’s cool, a sweater. I wear long sleeves if go outside, because I’m sun-sensitive. If I’m going out for some reason, I wear my better pants or shirt and top it with a nice jacket. I’m no fashion plate, but I always look appropriate. I think. Some times it’s hard to tell these days.

Dressing up at home? I didn’t even do that when my husband and I were dating. When I get home from work or school and have nowhere else to go, I get right into my pajama pants and a t-shirt.

He wears jeans and a stained t-shirt to work every day and doesn’t change until we go to bed or the gym. We don’t feel the need to try to impress each other. I like to be comfy at home, not worried about whether or not my husband is impressed by my sexy outfit.

SadieMartinPaul's avatar

I alternate between Ginger and Mary Ann. Some days, I show up for breakfast in an evening dress. Other days, it’s ponytails, short-shorts, and a little gingham top.

downtide's avatar

I wear somethng comfy (jeans & t-shirt or sweater) but I always dress when I get up even if I’m not going anywhere. I hate staying in PJs all day.

SadieMartinPaul's avatar

I’ve had a miserable day and could use a rest. Tomorrow, I’m going to wear a dog suit while dressing Sadie in my clothes. Then, Sadie can take me for a nice walk, fix my breakfast, pat the back of my neck, etc.

SadieMartinPaul's avatar

These days, it seems that I’m often wearing a scowl and an attitude.

Bellatrix's avatar

Pyjamas, tee shirt and undies, trackiedaks. Whatever I find in the drawer that’s clean. No make-up.

Only138's avatar

Jogging pants and a sophisticated t-shirt. ;)

gailcalled's avatar

@Bellatrix: What are trackiedaks?

Bellatrix's avatar

Track pants. Sweat pants. Australian term .. trackiedaks.

Karl Lagerfield’s view on trackiedaks.

gailcalled's avatar

^^Thanks. KL is an overstuffed idiot.

Bellatrix's avatar

I agree.

I should say the only time I would EVER go out in my trackiedaks is if my children told me not too.

I remember I had to pick up my eldest daughter from a school music practice in the evening. She said “you won’t come in your trackiedaks will you?” And before she said that, no, I wouldn’t have. Afterwards… well…

Blueroses's avatar

Shoes and bra are ditched at the door after coming home from work.

Sundress in warm weather, yoga pants, cami and hoodie when it’s cooler.

I only come home to my dogs and they don’t give 2 shits how I’m dressed as long as I bring food.

bob_'s avatar

@Blueroses You could quite easily relocate to Mexico.

I don’t slob around, I tend to wear jeans and a top or hoody when I am relaxing at home but it’s usually something I would also be happy going outside the house in. My boyfriend is fine with it as that’s what he tends to wear as well. I like to look tidy even when I am just relaxing so I never feel like I am letting myself go.

In the evening I tend to wear a baggy tshirt (one of his mostly) until we go to bed and then I don’t wear anything. I know he’s definitely happy with that arrangement.

rojo's avatar

In the evenings, after a shower I usually just wear a sarong. If it is particularly hot I might change into it immediately upon getting home. I add a t-shirt if it is cold.

tups's avatar

Pyjamas. I want to be as comfortable as possible in my own home, and pyjamas can also be sexy!

Shinimegami's avatar

At home at Japan wear kimono and accesssories. Summer wear light cotton yukata, thin obi and geta. Winter wear tomesode kimono, keku obi, obi age, obi jime, nagajuban, tabi and zori.

hinkypunk's avatar

I always like to look my best, even when just at home with my boyfriend. I always wear make up and dress nice. The only time I don’t is if I’m too hungover.

Brian1946's avatar

It’s about 4:40 AM.

The high temp yesterday was about 100º. It’s now about 75º outside, so all I’m wearing are shorts.

augustlan's avatar

@Brian1946 Hot, in more ways than one. ;)
