Was there a German equivalent of the World War I newspaper "The Wipers Times?

Asked by flutherother (34522points) June 19th, 2013

British soldiers fighting in the trenches during World War I produced their own newspaper called The Wipers Times. Was there anything equivalent produced by German soldiers. I am curious. Perhaps the German jellies may know?

I’ve never heard of this, but a Google search using German keywords is quite revealing:

“Trench newspaper collections”, see

There’s even a book about it:

Thanks Matt, very interesting. The Deutsche Kriegszeitung looks like an official publication. The ‘Wipers Times’ was a product of the trenches produced on an abandoned printing press salvaged from the ruins of Ypres. It was written, printed and distributed by British soldiers serving in the trenches of the Western Front. It was republished in book form in 2006. I have a copy.
