Designers, Typography Experts and people who like cursive writing, is this example "correct"?

I can’t seem to find a decent resource to explain how to write using a cursive style – lines overlapping and spacing:

How does it look? Also, can someone maybe recommend a source where I can learn some of this stuff? I have a book right next to me, called Thinking With Type
It’s very informative, but I haven’t gotten to any bits that would help.
Anywho, if someone could tell me if I’m on the right track, or totally off the track, I’d appreciate it. Thanks!
